168 Hour Assignment: Reflection
During our first week in class, we were given a brief outline stating how much time is expected for a student to devote for an on-line class. It is determined that a student needs to spend 3 times the amount of the time stated in the catalog. The time is to be spent between learning the subject matter, homework and projects.
We learned that there is 168 hours in a week to schedule work, work and family/friends, and downtime. In order to be a successful on-line student it is important to set aside specific amount of time each week to devote to an on-line class.
In order to practice time management skills, we were asked to assess our weekly schedule, total the time we spend on various activities and create a schedule that includes time for this class.
This was particularly tough considering that life is not always perfect and staying on schedule is not always possible. There are a number of the things I've learned as a mom, flexibility is key, but maintaining a schedule will lead to success. For me, it's important that I look ahead at my week and determine if anything needs to be shuffled.
