This class has truly challenged my technology skills and taught me to see far beyond the scope of the assignment. Not only did I need to create a catchy slogan, I was required to put it to work in an advertisement flyer. It probably took me longer than it should have since I had to learn how to construct the flyer and then add the illustrations in a way they flowed.
I decided to target women in the 45-55 year range because I felt this is an under represented group. Everyone experiences mid-life differently and although it is easy to find basic information, it is difficult to find specific answers. The thought behind the campaign is to help set a health plan that includes nutrition, fitness, supplements that can best fit an individual's needs. For example, one woman may be experiencing severe hot flashes and moodiness whereas another has gained weight. The suggested nutritional needs may be different for each of these women. The same goes for supplements and exercise. A women experiencing a severe loss of calcium would not only need a higher dose of calcium, she would need light weight training to strengthen her bones.
Aside from the physical part, there is the emotional and spiritual needs of a women in her mid-life. I thought the campaign could expand to a peer group with on-line discussions and blogs. This could be a place where a woman could sit for a few minutes and read funny antidotes or share her own experience with someone going through a rough day.
So many changes happen during this time in a woman's life but she doesn't need to feel like she is alone. It's important to stay healthy -- mind, body and soul.
